We all (heart) Marnie Stern
I can, in part, blame my delinquincy in updating this here blog because of spending the better part of the last few months on tour playing with the lovely Marnie Stern. Between all our talks of va-geeens and tampons, criss-crossing the world, and playing shows, there's little time to update you with photo documentation, but I promise to try harder. Here are some outtakes from a shoot we did in a hotel room for Shut Magazine.

shows to see of pictures made of muses past and future

Darker My Love, my muses, are going on tour and sadly I wont be going with them as I have some TM'ing and bass playing to do for the lovely Marnie Stern. Mark your calendars and come to a show, but for now, enjoy this image of Robert Wallace Barbato.

Wild, White Horses

"Wild, white horses
They will take me away
And the tenderness I feel
Will send the dark underneath
Will I follow?
Through the glory of life
I will scatter on the floor
Disappointed and sore
And in my thoughts I have bled
For the riddles I've been fed
Another lie moves over"

Good things come to those who wait....

Pictures from the Dandy Warhols / Darker My Love / Upsidedown tour are in my hot little hands and receiving the "MJ touch." I promise to have them for your eyes before I board a plane to London on Sunday.

The adventure continues....

I caved and bought a digital camera to capture the madness of this Fantasy Land i call a life. Stay tuned for a new day-in-the-life digital blog. For now, my adventure continues down the western coast with one new friend, a stack of CDs, and an arsenal of cameras. I will have Darker My Love + Dandy Warhols + Upsidedown, a.k.a. the "Summer of Love Tour," photos to show once I return to L.A.

F YEAH: The Black and White of it all...
Sweat dripped from our bodies and soaked our shirts with the stinch of last night’s whiskey or late night alleyway rendezvous. With the windows down, the air howled through the bus, sending the sounds of laughter and flipping pages from front to back. At night, when cities slept, we scoured empty alleyways for sweet, golden grease. The barrels or bins are our gold, the free fuel that makes our magic bus go. For some, it was better not to explain our mission and quietly steal their supply. Others who knew of our mission bottled and packaged what they had and brought it to our doorstep, an offering to the cause.
A few mornings, when we’d driven all night, I watched the sun rise with sleeping bodies all around me and took in the stillness of what surrounded me. People were curled into balls or leaning on the person next to them, or hunched over a backpack, or stretched out on the runway, or with feet propped on windows or seats. It was the same everynight- sleep where you can and for as long as you can, take in what little rest to face the next day and the next adventure. When rest wouldn’t suffice, a warm Red Bull or cooling cup of bitter coffee would ease the way through morning until beers welcomed us at the next venue.
We are gypsies of modern times, happiest when the world passes our window. We send our curses and complaints to the wind when in motion and weep at the stillness of life at home. Sleeping on floors, gourmet subway sandwiches and gas station breakfasts, shitting dogs, smelly hippies, soured food in coolers with warm beer, yesterday’s water bottle, tomorrow’s new adventure.
Empty bottles and empty promises wittled at our wits, but even in the midst of the worst of times, it was something special. Something we’lll never forget. Friendships forged for life by people brought together in commiseration.

COMING SOON!
"What is that feeling when you're driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? — it's the too-huge world vaulting us, and it's good-by. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies." Jack Kerouac, On The Road

Paul Smith

I THINK it's OK for me to post these from my shoot with Paul Smith for Swindle Magazine. He was one of the kindest, most enigmatic people I've ever photographed... or met. I heart Paul Smith.
